2017 marks the 70th anniversary of a certain automaker that will generate passion among car enthusiasts like no other. Synonymous with the color red, this automaker also appears to have the most prosperous team in Formula One. Have you guessed it? The automaker is none besides Ferrari. Since the official watchmaking partner of Ferrari, Hublot introduced the Hublot Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph watch to mark the occasion earlier this season, but this really is a new one-off version made from PEEK Carbon and King Gold. The partnership of Hublot and Ferrari is now into its fifth year, and it has produced many of Hublot’s most audacious and remarkable pieces like the Hublot MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis (hands-on) watch along with the Hublot MP-05 LaFerrari watch (hands-on with the sapphire case version), as well as more familiar Hublot fare such as Big Bang Ferrari (like the version we reviewed) editions. The Hublot Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph watch was introduced earlier this year (hands-on here), and the specific version in the stuff you see here was made as a one-off piece for auction. It is a technically impressive watch, clearly, using a chronograph function and tourbillon escapement. Designed in collaboration with Ferrari, the resulting watch, with its architectural and bridge-like situation layout, looks unlike any other Hublot watch before it.So what is unique about this particular watch? Well, the Hublot Techframe Ferrari 70 Years Tourbillon Chronograph watch was initially created in three variants — King Gold, ceramic, and PEEK carbon — that were limited to 70 pieces each. This variant, however, uses a combination of PEEK carbon and King Gold together. The skeleton frame that protects the case is made from ultra light and strong PEEK carbon, although the case itself is made from King Gold. King Gold is the title of a gold and ceramic metal developed by Hublot that includes a richer reddish hue in comparison with typical 5N red gold and can be much more challenging and much more scratch-resistant.
Movie star Donnie Yen was in Singapore to open the hublot watches san diego Replica pop-up store and unveil the yellow gold Hublot MP-05 LaFerrari Golden Jubilee, a one of a kind creation set with 440 diamonds.
A unique piece created to mark Singapore‘s 50th anniversary, the Hublot MP-05 LaFerrari Golden Jubilee is a million dollar whopper in yellow gold, set with over 13 carats of baguette-cut diamonds. It was launched by Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen, best known for his roles Ip Man martial arts film series and the upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, who was in Singapore to inaugurate the Hublot pop-up store. Open till the August 26, 2015, the Hublot pop-up store in Singapore is the largest ever, set up to mark the 10th anniversary of the Big Bang and Singapore’s 50th National Day. The Red Dot Bang was created for this double anniversary, while the LaFerrari Golden Jubilee is a one-off creation especially for Singapore.
Inspired by the namesake Ferrari hybrid supercar, the LaFerrari is ordinarily available with round cut diamonds; the LaFerrari Golden Jubilee is the only one set with baguette diamonds. The LaFerrari Golden Jubilee has a yellow gold case, with matching yellow gold plated movement components. Even the drums that indicate the time and power reserve have gilded numerals.
Shaped like a car engine, the LaFerrari movement has seven barrels which give it a record-setting 50 day power reserve. Winding those 50 barrels requires a small electric drill that connects to a socket at 12 o’clock. Sitting at six o’clock, at the end of the stacked barrels, is a vertical tourbillon, a signature feature of Hublot’s technical development department (which is the former BNB Concept movement specialist). We published a full explanation of the watch and movement back in 2013.
